I assumed input but after reading the add I see it is out put. So I don't think I can help you. I would try to check directly with the mfg. **Q: Is it supposed to hiss (leak air) when it is set to a pressure lower than the tank?** A: As you adjust the pressure downward, the regulator will let a little wisp of air out as you turn the knob. However, it should not leak air at any other time. If yours is leaking continuously, something is wrong with it.I should add that William R and I both assume the hissing is "leakage out" from the regulator, such as around the knob. The regulator will 'leak through' to maintain the set pressure downstream. If your downstream system has a leak, the regulator will allow air through to make up for the leakage. This would be normal operation. **Q: When looking down at the top of the knob, what side is the gauge on? And, does it have an L or R stamped on it?** A: It should have arrows or in/out to indicate the direction of flow for your connections so base your fittings based on that. with the supplied bracket and the right fittings (1/8" npt nipple and 1/8" npt female/female elbow), you can have the gauge face out, up, down, left or right. **Q: Would the regulator fit on a 24 oz CO2 bottle with a pin valve** A: That I do not know, But these type of gauges and regulators are meant to be used with compressed air usually no more than 250 psi. And to the best of my knowledge, compressed gases such as C02 is normally around 3000 psi. I was uncertain this could work as there was no space to thread the 1/4" male to male NPT pipe to connect to the tank as I could not turn the entire assembly provided out of the package. However I did discover that you can safely remove the top control knob easily by removing the 4 screws holding it in place. Once I did that, assembly of the main valve was easy to the compressor, and I had space to then replace the control knob (4 screws), install the pressure indicator, and put in the output connector. All works perfectly for my application!
