You need to rough up the surface and apply in layers, depending on the repair. More layers, more strength. I repaired a $25 pair of sunglasses where the temple snapped in half. That's not an easy repair. After roughing surfaces up, I first did a butt weld to hold it together. Then I went around the piece, layering the adhesive and overlapping the break an eigth inch or so all the way around, hardening each weld with the light. Eventually you make a band around the break. The adhesive is like very thick syrup but bot sticky. It hardens immediately with the UV light. Obviously if you grab it like a stick and try to snap it, it will! But my glasses fit tightly going on, and I have had no problems since I fixed them, which is all I expected. Afterall, they broke when they were whole and brand new! So I'm getting my money's worth and even epoxy glue didn't hold up when I tried that. Plus the Laser Bond is simple to use with no messy glue! **Q: Is this real Bondic or a knockoff?** A: Real Bondic as pictured. **Q: Will it work on plastic models?** A: Yes, it will in my experience. It is possible that it depends on the specific type of plastic. The other thing is that since you need to shine the UV light to harden it, you can't put it in the middle of two pieces where there would be no exposure to the UV light. Sometimes I put a little glue on the inside and use Bondic on the outer seams to provide an even stronger bond. **Q: Will this work to fix a broken post on an earring?** A: I doubt it very seriously. There is no adhesive I know of that can fix such a tiny joint. Even some hypothetical micro-welding would probably not fix such a small problem. So I bought an old-fashioned but highly accurate gauge made of plastic. ONCE during this past winter we had about a quarter inch of rain that then froze overnight. The ice expanded and put a crack in the base area of the cylinder such that any rain always leaked into the larger cylinder that is useful for measuring precipitation greater than one inch - the inner cylinder is graduated up to one inch, and any further rain simply overflows and to get the total you pour water from the big into the small in 1" aliquots till you've emptied/tallied the total water in the large cylinder. But it just bugged me that it was rendered a little defective, so I bought this UV-activated glue and used it to seal a crack in the plastic that was about 1/2 inch long. It was not structurally compromised, just separated enough for water to seep through. I did two treatments and it worked completely as desired to seal the leak. I like this stuff, have used it a number of times in the past, and found that it is excellent FOR SOME THINGS, and not so strong as say, two-part epoxy or even superglue, at holding things together that come under duress to not stay together. It is very nice that it only takes a few seconds to react to the little UV light that comes with it. Dries clear.
