The sample of this recording is a very accurate representation of what the entire recording sounds like.This is an authentic (or very authentic-sounding) 74-recording of medium-to-heavy rainfall. The sound quality is clearer than other rain recordings I've heard. Also, it is one of the few rain recordings I've been able to find to have ONLY rain. There is no music, no thunder, no birds, no wind; just consistent, steady rain. (If you WANT rain with music accompanying it, you have a lot of choices available. Just search on Amazon!)Of course, real rainfall tends to vary in its intensity over a 74-minute period, but the rain on this recording is consistent all the way through. This could mean the technician who recorded it managed to capture a rainfall on a day where it fell with a consistent intensity for the duration; or it could mean the recording loops at some point. It doesn't matter to me either way, as the end result is seamless. I think a "looped" recording of rain or any other soothing sound is fine as long as the looped portion is long enough to not be noticeable.If plan to use this CD to fall asleep to (as I have), you can get it to play all night. All you need is a CD player with a "repeat" button. As soon as the CD starts playing, press the "repeat" button and the CD will play over and over until it's manually turned off./\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\UPDATE: The recording is excellent, but due to the CD-R format it doesn't play smoothly in some machines. I have a fairly high-end RCA multi-CD player, and when I try to get this disc to play, the machine repeatedly makes a motorized sound, indicating it's struggling to make the disc play. When it finally starts to play, it usually stops before it gets to the end.The problem is NOT with my player, as it plays numerous other audio CDs smoothly and without the "struggling" sounds to get started. The CD is NOT scratched, as I purchased it new and always handled it carefully and kept it stored in its case when not being played. The problem is the CD-R format. A disc made in this format can play easily in some machines, yet have glitches with playing in others. Considering the high price of this disc, there should be better reliability.If this CD were manufactured in standard CD format rather than CD-R, it would rate a definite 5-stars. I use it to go to sleep. So I wanted rain sounds that were just rain without thunder or birds. I purchased it and ask Alexa to play it for me every night. Also, we have triple pane windows, so I couldn't hear anything even if it rained like crazy in Anaheim (which it hardly ever does these days).
