Now I have been doing this for many years. At first, the locking lever kept swinging in my way and locking the clippers while I was cutting the nails. I just bent it slightly and now it stays out of the way when I'm using them. One note, they're designed not to open all the way, so even if the nails are long, you have to insert the nail through the hole in the clippers all the way at the end of the nail, you cannot just clip the nail halfway. This was annoying at first, but I realize it will prevent me from cutting anything else but the nail accidentally.
