Wild Blooms & Colorful Creatures: 15 Appliqué Projects - Quilts, Bags, Pillows & More

I love the colors and pictures - I guess I am attracted to a lot of the same things Australians are, because again and again I find myself drawn to things that turn out to be by folks from "Oz". I was a little disappointed in some of the applique instructions (have done various kinds of applique for years) because some things are left out and some things are more difficult than they need to be. Also, I was hoping for more tips on how to combine wool and cottons - when and where using some kind of stabilizer would be helpful, etc. However, overall a very good book. There is a lot of inspiration here to do more things than just the specific projects in the book, and I am happy to have the applique patterns included.

I hadn't seen this book before I ordered it so it was a beautiful surprise when it came. The projects are a mix of fabrics with wool appliqué. The instructions are good and the projects are gorgeous. I'm so glad I ordered this because I literally want to make every project in it. It also covers embroidery stitches to further embellish the appliqué. Great book. I highly recommend it.

She gives plenty of examples on her projects, but she also encourages you to create your own special touches on your own pieces. I love this book!”

This has to be the best craft book I have seen. It gives you lots of beautiful examples, lots of ideas and lots of templates and then tells you to do it your way, although you can copy her design if you want. I love all the information and all the wonderful designs for inspiration. Since I am just beginning in applique, I don't know whether this book would be as great for more accomplished artists in this area, but I know for me it is the perfect book.

At long last this book is here!! We'll all be busy for quite a while making these beauties. Wendy is SO creative, and I'm already jumping from project to project. Am 90% finished with Birds on a Wire (which I'll teach at a quilt store in Bend, OR in June), and am piling up similar fabrics for the two table runners--will make 3 of each for Christmas gifts. Thennnn, will be marching onward to Two's Company, and Hooterville--probably will teach both of those, also. Oh, Oh, and her pillows!! There'll be no need to stop there. Although some of her designs are done in wool, I'm doing all of them in batiks and high quality cottons. Best book I've purchased in years!!! Yea!! for Wendy!!

Beautiful, colorful, adaptable, fun. These are only a few of the adjectives that come to mind as I flip through the book again before writing my review. These patterns can be made in wool, cotton, or a combination of the two. They can be used for full quilts, tote bags, pillow tops, or whatever size you feel like doing. They look a lot of fun to do and you will be able to adapt them to your own style. I'm looking forward to working on these designs.

Easy patterns, good instructions, anyone can do these and have a great artistic product.
