Our 3yo recently declared that it is "mom/dad's job to clean up" which is not an acceptable response in our home. As a result, we had been looking for a way to incentivize and reward good behavior, and listening. This chore chart is easy to use and is a clean activity (which I love). We store the stars off in the left hand column and they move them when they have completed a task. I did remove the dry erase marker as our chart is located in a space where I would prefer not to find drawings elsewhere. Our kids (3yo & 5yo) love completing all of their responsibilities. We have offered a VERY small allowance in accordance with the completion of the chart which our kids find exciting. When our kids make poor choices, they know that one of their stars may be removed which in turn affects their allowance. We also add stars to reward our kids for good behavior. We have seen better behavior in just a week of use. I love that I can write my own "chores" and switch things around. I love that there's a space to write the reward. If there was one thing I'd change its the size of the board, I'd make it bigger so that the stars can be larger. Now they are so small and the magnet on them is small too and therefore they fall down sometimes. It is so easy to setup and use. The magnetic star system is awesome. The only thing I wish it had were adhesive magnets to be able to attach chart to the fridge but the hang string works just fine.
