It will take a little while (and a few damaged connectors) to get a hang of it. too much heat burns the connectors. not enough and the solder does not melt. light and steady heat shrinks connectors and melts the solder. thicker wires are a little trickier as they take more heat to melt solder. this does take a little bit of time than crimping but the results are worth it.
