Would expect both sides to absorb, not highly absorbant - but doesn't stick! **Q: are the pads individually wrapped?** A: yes, the ones I bought were individually wrapped. **Q: Expiration date?** A: These are individually wrapped gauze pads. I do not believe there is an expiration date. However, after a year or so they might start to yellow and I would not use them. **Q: are they 12 ply?** A: Curad does not state anything about 12-ply or how many layers are in this pad. This is a non-stick pad similar to Telfa.
