## Description

Product Description Celestron 94224 Polar Telescope Finderscope helps to polar aligning your Celestron CGEM, Advanced VX or CG-5 mount. Install the finder into the polar finder port, located at the rear of the mount and focus the eyepiece until the reticle is sharp. The Celestron Polar Axis Finder can also be used in the Southern Hemisphere. Four stars of the constellation Octans are etched in the reticle. Adjust your telescope until those stars line up as shown on the reticle. Polar align your Celestron CGEM, Advanced VX or CG-5 equatorial mount with this Celestron Polar Finderscope. Inserts into the polar finder port at the back of the mount. The easily identifiable star patterns of the big dipper, cassiopeia and octans are etched into the reticle, as well as polaris and the north celestial pole, to help with alignment in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. Eyepiece has focus adjustments for reticle clarity. Manufacturer Contact Information TORRANCE, CA, 90503 US

Review: Mount comes without. Much harder to be exactly north - Without it, is very hard to align precisely north. Use it with the "Polar Aligner Pro" App and it will tell you where to put Polaris in the ring around "true north" to make it even more precise. On a standard by-hand mount that should be enough to go from. On a modern gohto mount, you probably only need to use two star finding to make sure it is even more precise. Yes, you could do it without. But why would you do that?
Review: Easy setup, aligns perfect, reticle hard to see when dark - This just screwed in the AVX mount and polaris was there and when adjusted to center scope was aligned correctly to get started with any kind of alignment. The reticle is not illuminated so can't see when dark but polaris easy to spot. This should have come with the mount and the price is expensive for what it is but a Telrad finder is good enough for most people but need the scope to be on the tripod first and if you got heavy scope then moving the mount together with scope is hard to do.
