Do not like shaved haircuts.** A: I dont see why not: I have been cutting a standard poodle's hair with it. It brings 4 plastic guards of different lengths, plus the bare #10 blade will give you basically many choices on the length. Powerwise, if it can power thru a full size poodle, it should be able to trim your Shih-tzu. **Q: Will this clipper shave off matted hair?** A: If the comb is off.
