Or will that mess it up** A: I sent mine back - poor quality! The connecting hose can be any length you want - it's simply to make the connection between the tap and whatever hose reel you have. Mine is a standalone hosereel which requires the connecting hose. I opted to buy more expensive Hozelock accessories, cut a length of old garden hose and fitted them to that to make the connecting hose. Hope this helps.
