I believe these high quality creams will wind up being cheaper than the cans of chemical goop you buy at the grocery store. **Q: Does this use real sandalwood or just the scent?** A: Smells like real sandalwood **Q: Can I use the shave cream from the container, or is it better to use a separate bowl or cup?** A: I wouldn't recommend creating a lather in the container. I take about a TSP and a damp brush and mix it up in a bowl or put about a TSP in the middle of a damp brush and do a face lather. I prefer the face lather with this creme. It takes a couple times to get the perfect cream to water ratio for a rich lather. It's an old school type cream so don't get discouraged if it doesn't seem perfect your first time.
