Review: Get the right box and it sounds incredible! - This is a very good subwoofer. I bought this sub to put it in an old Klipsch subwoofer box that I had lying around. I added a longer port to tune it up and it plays deep! It sounds good down to about 28hz which I never thought would be possible to get out of a subwoofer this size! I’d recommend you tune your own box for this since all other pre-made boxes are tuned too high and make these sound too boomy and not bassy. It gets really loud and looks cool having a thick rubber ring for excursion. The video might sound kind of bad since it rattles everything at a higher volume. The amp I am using is underpowered for this subwoofer but it still sounds incredibly powerful. This sub sounds like a 10 inch inside a car and although it is a little quieter than one it punches deep like one!
Review: Reminds me of the old VVX series!!! - Ok, so I want to start off by saying that skar still needs to make harder dust caps, like kevlar at least because they are pretty soft. Thats really the only negative thing about this sub. This review is technically for the VVX 8 I had as well as the EVL 10. My EVL 10 reminds me of the old VVX series subs! I had a VVX 8" on a crappy planet audio amp that absolutely killed the lows!! It took a beating-like a HARD beating for 3 years. My drives were long, 25-30 mins sometimes 40. It nonstop took everything i threw at it. And it sounded AMAZING. Fast foward to when I got a new truck, new job, and upgraded the system to an RP 800.1 D. For 4 months that VVX took waaaaay over its rated power (somewhere around 600 RMS, was giving an easy 1k @ 1ohm). Drives were 50 minutes one way. 2 times a day, 5 days a week. The sub took it ALL. And the only thing that broke was one of the spiders ripped itself off the former! Glue stayed on it! It sounded horrible unfortunately and when i took the coil out, it was only kinda discolored. Insane. It was built super well, too. A single, hard, dense steel mesh bolted to the basket with the motor mounting bolts kept the coil gap safe. BIG a** triple stack monster motor. Cast basket. Nice soft foam surround, paper cone, polypropylene dust cap, etc. Beat the ZVX 8 I got after it (same RP 800.1, not the sundown 2k) died in a week. A 600 RMS DC m3 8: dead in 3 weeks at less than 400 RMS. (SAME POWER RATINGS somehow??) Now, the EVL 10. What. A. Monster. The sub is so heavy for its size! And its an absolute animal. Its giving my Sundown 2k monoblock a run for its money!! Yes, my SAE v.3 is at 3/4 gain (no bass boost on the deck, or any other device, flat eq on my phone) and the sub eats it up!! Wired to 2 ohms because i have stock alt and battery. RIP. Plus I think it helps reduce any weird distortion or other signals (someone correct me on that) and improves sound quality. 1/0 welding cable for power. 12 guage Monster cable for speaker wire. Its in a Q-Bomb box behind the passenger seat of my 2010 f150 and it shakes everything hahaha!!! The sound it produces is identical to the VVX and thats why I chose to include my review of the VVX in this review. Its built like the VVX, nice basket, soft surround, tough cone, big red spider spider pack which the VVX didnt have, and an American voice coil!! Merica! Oh, and she gets lowwwww and still sounds good doing so. Mint! Overall Im super happy with this peaker and will definitely recommend the EVL over the ZVX as the ZVX did not last long (for me, at least.) 10 stars from me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I power one of the 6.5 inch ones with 600w rms?**
A: yes, easy if its a 1 channel, just look at your amps power ratings @ ohms, match our speakers ohms to the power desired. if your amp puts out 600 rms at 2 ohm, it should do 300 at 4 ohm so get the dual 2 ohm and wire it for 4 ohms and its only 100 watts overpowered, which is about perfect. if its 600 at 4 ohm and 300 at 8 ohm get the dual 4 ohm and wire it for 8 ohms.
if its a 2/4 channel that gets more complicated. i dont think i have the characters available to explain bridging.

**Q: Do these work for a 1999 camaro coupe ss monsoon system for the sail speakers/sub-woofers?**
A: Did you use these in your Camaro was looking at the. For my WS6 my sail panel speakers are blown trying to find a 2ohm 6.5 is not easy

**Q: Would 2 of these fit door panels in a 2012 Chevy Suburban?**
A: I’d your looking for bass yeah I have these on my sons Tacoma because there isn’t a clean way to hook up a sub box. I put one on the left one on the right , with a alpine older sub amp. I if you aren’t putting them into the actual metal on the door. Use nut and bolt screws and make sure they are tight into the door panel. Under power them a little. His truck was rounded out perfectly. I used a kicker line out box with remote turn on tapped into radio. And hook up the line out box to both left and right speakers , some people with use one side , but your adding 2 separate speakers. If you want to be more adjustable use a loc with crossover or eq built in

**Q: Whats the best speaker wire gauge for this 6.5 .**
A: I have 10g wires and it good but you can use 8,10, or 12

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Powerful Bass Potential for the Right Setup
*by H***N on June 25, 2023*

I recently installed the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 6.5" 400 Watt subwoofer in my 2015 Lexus CT200h factory subwoofer box, and although I'm not experiencing its full potential, I can still appreciate its capabilities. Please note that my review is based on my specific setup limitations, but I believe this speaker has great potential when paired with the right amplifier. First and foremost, the installation process was a breeze. The speaker fit perfectly in my factory subwoofer box, making it a seamless upgrade. The build quality of the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 is evident, with its sturdy construction and durable components. It is clear that this speaker is built to last. Now, onto the sound. Due to the limitations of my car's factory amplifier, I'm only able to hear a fraction of the bass that this speaker is capable of producing. However, I believe the issue lies with my car's power output rather than the speaker itself. Despite the limited bass response, I can still perceive the potential that lies within the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2. Considering the value for money, this speaker offers a solid investment. While I'm unable to fully exploit its capabilities, I recognize that it is designed for enthusiasts who are seeking powerful and deep bass. If you have a compatible amplifier that can provide the necessary power, I believe this speaker will truly shine and deliver an exceptional audio experience. In summary, the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 is a well-built and impressive subwoofer, despite my current setup limitations. Its easy installation and durable construction make it a great choice for car audio enthusiasts. While I can't provide a comprehensive review of its sound quality, I am confident that with the appropriate amplifier, this speaker will deliver outstanding bass performance. I would definitely consider purchasing the Skar Audio EVL-65 D2 again, but next time, I will ensure that my audio system can fully unleash its potential.
