Review: IC lifesaver! Necessary for me for my IC drink coffee again! - This is a lifesaver for me for my IC*. I can actually drink a cup of coffee again once a day as long as I take two of these before drinking the coffee. Yes, I could (and do) just drink less acidic cold-brew coffee. But it’s just not the same as hot coffee from my beloved Nespresso machine. So I reach for the Prelief and limit myself to one cup of hot brewed coffee per day. And if I want an 2nd cup then I’ll have the cold brew. And most days I am fine. Some days I still pay. Who knows why. IC is very complicated. The Prelief are also of some limited benefit if I use them before drinking an alcoholic beverage. Alcohol is usually always a no-no for those of us with IC, but Prelief at least makes it a little better if I take it than if I don’t take it before imbibing. Let’s face it, it’s hard to be good all the time. So if I’m going to cheat I’m going to at least try and stack the odds in my favor as much as I can and that’s where this product comes in. I know this doesn’t work for everyone - but if you have IC then it’s at least worth trying it to see if it at least helps you to be able to have an occasional (or in my case even daily with my hot coffee) cheat treat. (FYI: *IC = Interstitial Cystitis of the Bladder: what is IC? Pain like a UTI: all day, everyday, some days better and some days worse; with no “cure”, some therapies, treatments and meds to reduce the pain and coping mechanisms to learn to live with it; or for men, liken it to a kidney stone that won’t ever go away. IC can often be misdiagnosed as a UTI early on (even for years) leading to overuse of antibiotics, and more complications. (This is not intended as medical advice - this is my own personal experience.) I love my Prelief and keep it on subscription so I can be sure that I’m never without it. I always keep some in my purse and in my kitchen as well. I highly recommend it and give it 5 Stars.

While keeping track of what I consumed to track my symptoms, I came across information about acidity irritating the bladder, and also stumbled across this product. I gave it a try and it has completely changed my life - no more urgent sprints to the bathroom every hour throughout the day, no more leakage, no more embarrassment. I've found that 2-3 isn't always enough for me, so I'll often take 4 with a very acidic meal. I keep bottles of this everywhere. I wish the instructions were clearer about how long after a dose you need to take more (ie if you are eating/drinking over a prolonged period) but that's not a huge issue . This stuff is amazing.

**Q: Why is there a California Proposition 65 Cancer warning on this?**
A: I honestly wouldn't worry about it because California has ridiculously stringent laws about exposure to harmful chemicals. In this case, the warning is probably in regards to the packaging and not the product itself. The plastic used in the packaging MIGHT have very trace elements of a harmful chemical or metal but it is unlikely. You will find california prop. warnings on things like jackets or canned goods or even baby wipes for this same reason. (This warning is very frequently found on frozen fish or seafood, which is caused by the pollutants in the ocean that the fish could have possibly been exposed to before being processed.)

**Q: Is there sodium in these caplets?**
A: The bottle says each caplet contains calcium as calcium glycerophosphate and phosphorus as calcium glycerophosphate.   Also contains magnesium stearate.

**Q: My understanding of this product is that is works on the food, not on you.  So would that mean it reduces acid in the food but not in your stomach?**
A: Yes, take it before your going to eat food high in acidity.  I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis and coffee would put me in awful pain. Also tomato products.  Since taking prelief I can now drink coffe and eat foods high in acidity.  And have no bladder pain anymore.
