After I had the warped portions of the wood removed and filled, it was super easy to install this drip cap/sweep and took only about 20 minutes total. It only required some trimming with Dremel to make sure it was the correct width. It attaches only to the exterior of the door and would be great for doors that are irregularly shaped (warped) at the bottom which won't fit the door sweeps that hug the bottom of the door and are specific to certain door thicknesses. The rubber door sweep works great in sealing the door from the outside. Would highly recommend for anyone in my position that had to fix an exterior door. Excellent value for the money. Drilled a few small pilot holes, screwed it in, and it's done. It now diverges the water runoff just past the edge of the door and sill. Is ok for an exterior door that open towards the outside?** A: I am just a DIYer, but I will give you my answers. I used this to protect the outside bottom of a carport entry door (that does swing out) in which ground settling had caused the nominally 1/4-inch 'below the door' gap to be about 1/2-inch on one side. Thus the threshold seal did not keep out water. The 37 inches is to make sure the Sweep is wide enough to cover the door width and the gap that is on either side of the door so that water does not come in. The sweep can easily be cut with a hacksaw, but I used the full width. The drip cap does extend out from the door surface, so one must be sure that the door will swing open as much as required without contacting the wall or parts of the door jamb. My door only swings out a bit more than 90deg. The unit does help keep out the rain. **Q: Does this door sweep come in aluminum color rather than bronze** A: Mine are regular aluminum (silver.) I didn't know they came in bronze. **Q: How far out from the door face does it project? And, is it made of aluminum? And, is it gray in color? Thanks.** A: Extends approx. 5/8-inches outward from door surface.
