The cord from the charger is about 3 or 4 ft , same as my old one,which maybe people are talking about but personally,I've always had an outlet next to my bike so I never had any issues. If you don't have an outlet within that distance then yes ,you will need an extension cord. It also includes a quick connect cord with alligator clips so you can use it for stand alone batteries or just a battery without being hard wired.Although I use these for a motorcycle , they work for any 12v battery that you may have such as a generator,riding mower,etc. I'm very happy with the quality of this tender especially at this price. I don't forsee any issues with it at all.
