Is it sturdy? Does it flex in the middle?** A: Within a week mine had sunk a half-inch in the middle - it had 30-40 lbs distributed over about 24" on one of the lengthwise sides - from my monitor plus some paperback books to keep it higher. Hopefully it won't break in the middle. I'm keeping an eye on it daily (have had it 10 days) to make sure it doesn't sink any further in the middle. The design is fine but the plastic seems to not be sturdy enough to handle weight. It would be fine to use for banquet purposes. **Q: how smooth is the surface?** A: Very smooth. I use the table for assembling jigsaw puzzle pieces. **Q: how many will this table seat?** A: I used standard folding chairs and could seat 8 adults comfortably by putting one chair on each end and 3 on each long side. Another time that I had a total of 7 adults and two children, seating 9 also using standard folding chairs and that was fine. I could probably have added another chair to have 4 on each long side and one on each end and still been okay.
