A CO2 tank a regulator valve and a freshwater source. The regulator valve will mix the fresh water with the CO2 and produce carbonated water the carbonator does not actually create carbonation it amplifies it with a CO2 tank that is attached. **Q: I need cooled soda water and i've already had the co2 tank and a chiller unit. where should the chiller unit be installed? after/before the pump?** A: After the pump in the fridge, the carbonator should not be installed in the fridge. **Q: Why can't the chiller be installed before the carbonator?** A: Because the soda water won't stay chilled and will go flat. **Q: Can the water source come from a reverse osmosis system? Was thinking of a way of purifying the water before it went into the system.** A: Yes. Make sure to have a storage tank (sometimes called an RO tank) installed between the filter and cabonator. The carbonator needs a quickly accessable surge of water when the float valve trips. If there isnt a tank to deliver this the pump will run until enough water trickles in from the pump. This will lead to premature pump failure. I put a dedicated ro tank for the carbonator and another for the filtered water tap. Works great. We can also add Sodastream syrups and have soda on tap. ### ⭐ Either this was a return... *by C***R on March 14, 2024* ...or quality control is absolutely abysmal. The 1/8th inch water supply nipple is not only about 4 threads deep, it's also made out of plastic. it immediately started leaking when I applied water to the pump. Turns out, the nipple was cross threaded. Had to swap it with a brass nipple at the extraordinarily high cost of $2.71. /sarcasm. Curious of what diversity hire engineer thought a 4 thread deep plastic piece that could see upwards of 60PSI was a good idea. Regardless, the pump doesn't seem to move water under pressure. When there is no pressure on the tank, water flows into the tank even with the pump off as it should. However, when there is pressure on the tank, the pump cannot overcome the tank pressure to pump water into it. Yes, while plugged in and running. And we're talking only ~ 80PSI of CO2 pressure on the tank. Hoping I got a bad unit/pump, will return this unit and try it again with a different unit. In case you're considering this unit, make sure you get 3/8 JIC SAE fittings an not standard 3/8 hydraulic JIC fittings.
