Review: Best bang for your buck! - This is my second Pyle amplifier, and for good reason. I bought my first one—the PTA3 2x75W—back in 2010, and after 15 years of powering my outdoor speakers, it finally gave out. These days it’s rare for any electronic device to last more than a couple of years, so I was genuinely impressed that it made it that long. I’m the type of shopper who obsessively researches every available option before making a purchase, no matter the price. Initially, I tried one of the newer amplifier brands that showed up in my search results and had solid reviews. But after hooking it up, I was extremely disappointed with the power output. To get decent sound from this new Class D amp, I had to max out the volume on my source device (an desertcart Echo). That meant I lost the ability to tell Alexa to turn the volume up, because it had to stay at 100% just to get acceptable audio levels. After more research, I realized that input sensitivity is a major factor with these newer mini‑amps. To make that other amp viable, I would have needed to buy a separate pre‑amp just to boost the signal. Instead, I checked the specs on the Pyle PTA4 and saw that its input sensitivity is 250 mV—meaning it requires only a quarter of the signal strength to drive the amplifier properly. Once I hooked it up, I was pleasantly surprised. It sounds fantastic even with much lower volume coming from my Echo Dot. I can now leave the main amplifier volume at 50% and adjust everything directly through the Alexa app without ever touching the amp. The sound is rich and warm, unlike the other amp, which felt tinny and lacking depth. Plus, the PTA4 includes Bluetooth—something my old PTA3 didn’t have—so connecting any device wirelessly is effortless. This is going to be a great upgrade for my patio speakers. Here’s hoping I get another 15 years out of Pyle’s solid, reliable products.
Review: A GREAT stereo amp and superb value ... however beware the power spec - This is a great little stereo amplifier with 3 RCA inputs for Aux 1, Aux2 and CD. There's also a high impedance microphone input (1/4" jack) and a spare Aux input (1/8" jack) on the front panel. The front panel controls are Input Select, Balance, Treble, Bass, Master Volume and a mic input level volume. Outputs are L & R speaker terminals, Record out (flat) and Phones. There are switches for Mixing the mic with main program material, a Pager setting for the mic, a On/Off power switch and a voltage selector (110/240). It's very well built, solid and looks high quality. Listening tests on quality speakers (JR149s) plus passive sub woofer sounds to me exactly as good as my normal home HiFi on different types of program material. It's subjective but honestly, I couldn't tell the difference so sounds great. Now for some technical stuff. As I have a digital scope & a sig generator I measured the frequency response into a resistive load (8 ohms) and it was as advertised (in linear region ie: no distortion). I ran a 1KHz square wave at several different levels (short of clipping) and the unit showed no signs of ringing or instability which is very good. Then for the not so good..... The unit is advertised as being able to source 2 x 120 watts into a 4 ohm load. My measurements showed using a 200Hz and 1KHz sine wave that just below the onset of clipping it would provide 18.4v peak into 8 ohms and 15.2v peak into 4 ohms which translates into 21 watts RMS into 8 ohms and 29 watts RMS into 4 ohms per channel. So in reality my unit provides 2x30 RMS watts into 4 ohm and NOT the 2x120 watts as advertised. Some manufacturers provide misleading power info by advertising PEAK instantaneous output power without stating that it's not true RMS power which is the only power that counts. Peak power divided by 4 equates to RMS power. You can't really say it's dishonest advertising so buyer beware!! So in summary, this is a superb high quality and versatile home stereo amp at an incredible price. Mine provides 21 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms (which most home speakers are) and should provide years of listening pleasure at reasonable volumes.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can this amplifier be used with a turntable?**
A: I have hooked this amp to a turntable, so yes.

**Q: Is it possible to drive several 8 ohm speakers in parallel so that the load is small?**
A: when you have 2 sets of 8 ohm speakers connected to an amplifier, you have a 4 ohm load. 3 sets would be about 2.7 to 3 ohms, 4 sets of speakers would be 2 ohms, and so on.. rough values, since impedance is a variable thing depending on whats being played through the amp (speaker impedance is a nominal value, not really exact).

the problem is, the lower total impedance allows the amplifier to generate more current internally than the amp is designed to deliver - and you would need it turned up a ways to drive that many speakers. reproducing low frequencies is problematic too, since with less impedance there is less "damping" or ability for the speaker to return to it's original state after it moves (mostly a problem with bigger speakers).

but ultimately, the power supply or an output chip would likely fail at some point of extended use. 4 ohms is the practical limit, which is 2 pairs of 8 ohm speakers.

**Q: I have a set of bluetooth ear buds. Can I take sound from my tv through this transmitted to my buds via bluetooth**
A: No, see my other answer, but an update, I now see the other device is now on sale so it is no longer more expensive than
this device. I still had problems with connecting to bluetooth at times with the IMi device, but maybe I didn't understand the instruction.
This device will do what you want, but doesn't have all the functions of this amplifier :
1Mii B06TX Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter for TV to Wireless Headphone/Speaker, Bluetooth Adapter for TV w/Volume Control, AUX/RCA/Optical/Coaxial Audio I

**Q: I am hearing impaired but my wife is not. Can I use this amp to separately drive and control speakers and headphones?**
A: The best solution for your suggestion is to use a separate headphone amp (mentioned in another answer), however, you can daisy chain the two components together so that your input source goes through the amp shown in the photo, then take a pair of patch cables and connect one end to the record output of the first amp and the other end of the patch cable to the input of the headphone amp. Your volume control will be totally independent and can have your headphones as loud as needed while the volume on the main amp used for the speakers is at your wife's listening preference. Remember, the connectors marked "output" will handle other amplifiers because that is a "pre-amp" output source. If the output says "speaker" then you should not connect another power amp to that connection because the second amp will be overdriven by the first amp, possibly causing damage to both.
