Review: Finally I have a Great Jigsaw... - The only jig saw I've had for many years was a $20 B&D. You get what you pay for. It was so much better at jumping around, than it was at cutting. Since I've really gotten back into woodworking, I knew I needed a real jig saw. After alot of research and reading reviews, this was my saw of choice and I could not be more happy. Out of the case, in your hands, you can just feel the heft and quality of this unit. Does not mean it will be an outstanding tool, but at least you know it's well made. Perfect finish all around for the unit I received. Can't find any flaws. Mine came in a very nice case, more than study enough for my use. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about, that it doesn't come with an upgraded case? The included case is VERY nice. Seems people might be expecting the world for the price. I've never been a fan of D handle jigsaws, as most are. Just don't seem to have as much control and it was always awkward, and often top heavy. Though that might be a preference. So I am Loving this saw, it just feels so good in my hand and I think it is much better to control. Nice and easy to grip and use. Have not cut alot with it yet, but what I've done, it's cut so well. Plenty of power in this unit. It has no problem going anything I've thrown at it. Plus the barrel grip gets you closer to the workpiece, so not top heavy like most D handles. Cuts nice and straight. I do agree that the vacuum attachment can be a pain to get on and off. But, once you get the hang of it, it's not terrible. Although, I really wish I could leave the attachment on all the time, but I can't because then the saw won't fit in the case. I have nothing but good to say about this saw. You get what you pay for and I think it was money well spent. You can buy this once and be very happy, or you can buy cheap saws over and over and be very sad. Would highly recommend!
Review: Great little jigsaw - I've got about 10 hours in with this saw and I love it. This is my first barrel grip saw. Wish I had bought one earlier. I run a small business on the side and do a lot of home decor items. I use a jigsaw a lot, so I went ahead and got a top of the line Bosch. Great little saw. Control switches are much smoother than my older model. The saw itself is much smoother with much less vibration. Love the LED light. If you work indoors at all, the LED light is priceless. One thing I immediately noticed was the turning radius. This saw turns on a dime (actually less, ha). Amazed at how much tighter it turns than my old pistol grip. And I haven't burned or broken as any blades. Very comfortable grip and I don't have gorilla hands. The new blade rollers are really sweet. Definitely much less blade deflection. Haven't had a problem adjusting the base and keeping it at 90. Very powerful motor. The auto adjust is great when it's under load. Overall, I couldn't be happier.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Festool vs bosch. i’m switching from a festool trion. anyone else switch to the bosch? will i be happy?**
A: I'm on my third Bosch. Not because they died, but because I upgraded and improvements made upgrading worth while.

Back in the day, I was going through a jig saw about every six months. My jig saw was my bandsaw, and handsaw, and. . . . I grew tired of garbage jig saws that wouldn't last and spent the extra money on what B&D claimed was their commercial saw, with ball bearings. It died as quickly as the others, and when I took it apart, the bearing was a bronze ball with a hole drilled through it.

Though leary of spending more money only to be duped again, I dropped a lot of cash on something called a Bosch. That was about forty years ago. I sold that saw, seven years in, to my brother, who still has and uses it.

The first thing I noticed about the Bosch and the, back then, new fangled blade system was, they didn't break when you thought about using them, or even when you did use them, except when cutting metal and iron.

The second thing I noticed was, I could cut a 2x4 almost as fast as a cheap skill saw with a cheap blade using maximum orbit

The third thing was, when I put an engineers square on the cuts made on those 2x4's, I got no light. They were good quality cuts. Though, to be fair, just pushing from the side can alter the quality of such cuts, so the saw solved most such problems, but cutting methods made those solutions workable.

Finally, a few years down the road, it became obvious the quality of the Bosch was well beyond that found in Skill, B&D and others.

I am on my third now, the the tool-free version, which allows me to replace blades or set the angle using only built in levers.

I've thought about the Festools that copy Bosch's design from time to time, but the thought of spending around $550.00 activated my "hurts once [buying it]" mode a little too strongly. However, the Carvex does look like a quality do-er. I like that the plate can make a 90 and ride the side of a board for angle cuts.

The price of the Carvex, and having to swap between plates for angles puts me back to the Festool Trion, but which is not tool-less and I have to wonder if there is any difference justifying the, approximately, $90.00 difference? Since I've never owned a Trion, I can't say whether or not most claims are nothing more than a Ford/Chevy thing.

Continuing in that vein, I took the plunge and bought two Festool sanders. A finisher and the much more expensive Rotex (in all, I have about twelve sanders, not counting three floor model creatures). I love them, but wonder how the Bosch equivalent (variable speed/direct drive (angle grinder like mode) with random orbit would compare to my Rotex 5"? Heck, my old Porter Cable variable speed, random orbit sander-polisher might enter part way into that fray, with the right vac attachment and paper.

Let us know.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My favorite jig saw, made even better!
*by P***R on November 20, 2016*

I have been a Bosch barrel body design jig saw user from very early on in my building and remodeling business. While there are some that provide even more features like laser guides etc., this tool will do what you need and then some. My old Bosch model has a wheel blade guide system to keep the blade vertical. I'm happy to see they've kept this design, but made it even better. The no tool blade quick change is also worthy of note. Push a lever to the side and the old blade pops out! Hold the lever to the side, slip the new blade in and release, done! The LED light that can be switched on and off, is well positioned and lights the blade well. The bevel cut plate adjustment is straight forward and adequate with solid 45° stops. It comes with a long power cord for easy reach and it's nice it comes with a case. Just remember, a case only helps extend the life and good condition of a tool if you use it! (Some past regret on my part in that department, 😉)! I recently used this tool to cut the 2x and 3/4" plywood barrel ceiling arches on one of my projects shown in the picture. The saw vibration was minimal, cutting was smooth and the cuts were true and square. All in all, a very good tool for the money.
