This book, in addition to "Dog Heaven" helped us to discuss sadness with our son.I would agree that this is not the most engaging book. I changed the name of the girl and our son identified the rabbit in the illustration as a dog (our dog had the same color combination.)I think for a subject like sadness kids really respond to something simple, and even a little "preachy". This may not be a very entertaining book for adults, but our boy asked for it every night for the first two weeks after our dog was killed. ### ⭐ We Felt Disappointed *by C***L on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 21, 2014* I was actually very disappointed with this book. I got it to help teach my girls to better understand their feelings. I think kids should understand that although we try our best, sometimes life does not work out. What better way to teach this lesson then through a book.When I got the book I was all excited to read it to my girls. The cover is nice and colorful and the illustrates are adorable. My girls loved the cover and so we go to reading. The first page introduced a frog and that was cute. That was as far as it went.If you have the opportunity to read this book you will understood but after getting past page 3, my girls felt like I was lecturing them. There was no understating of feelings and how people feel but rather how this boy felt. They went though various situations and with nothing interactive. I had a hard time reading it and my girls had an even harder time listening to it. As a mater of fact reading this book to my girls taught them the lesson about feeling disappointed. They were greatly disappointed that did not like the book.Books especially for kids should be exciting and interactive not confusing and lecture like. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Helping a young child going through a loss *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 14, 2014* This book will "help" a young child going through a grief process. Well written and very empathetic. Probably good for preschool age through about six years old, or so. A child older than this would like the book, but would need something more substantial. The illustrations are excellent.
