The product is white in itself from the titanium. The cream itself has a white color due to the physical protection provided by the titanium dioxide. This makes it very easy to monitor if the product is still effective after coming up from the water. But the product is water proof and won't dissolve easily. The tube itself contains 15 gram (≈0.5 oz) and will last you many many trips to the beach. Depending on the size of your scar, you will notice that you will only need to use a very small amount. So, Titanium Dioxide (a natural earth metal) blocks both UVA (the aging rays) and UVB (the skin burning rays) through a physical barrier rather than a chemical barrier (which is what you will find in most SPF on the market that is not "natural" or "organic"). That is what makes this product a natural SPF protection for scars as you DO NOT want chemical SPF on your scars. On a scientific level, there is actually little difference between SPF 15 and SPF 50. It has to do with how thick the layer of product is applied or in some cases how thick the product is made. This is why we do not have a claim on the packaging. If you put on the thinnest layer possible, you will have about an SPF of 15. If you really layer the product and put a healthy thick layer (will be and remain white in color) then you will have a protection of SPF 50. The whiter the product appears on your scar the more protection you have. SPF 15 blocks 93% of UVB rays. SPF 30 blocks nearly 97% of UVB rays. SPF 50 blocks approximately 98% of UVB rays. It is healed but the scar is still recovering and very dark/ vascular in some areas. The cream is thick and moisturizing, I was surprised this cream has a slight tint of light skin color in it and helps cover some of the discoloration. It is very convenient that you can layer products over this. After the recommended 5 minute drying time, it is still pretty tacky but if you blot it down after 6-7 minutes it is less tacky. I am then able to layer my silicone gel over the top. If I am going to be in the sun I still put HY-Tape over it for extra sun protection.
