After almost a decade of crushed ice, the plastic inside broke and it made getting anything but full ice cubes out difficult at best. This fixed that, literally immediately. The beauty of this is that it's all one piece and all I had to do was pull out the old ice bucket, dump the ice into this one (after washing it, of course), and put this ice bucket in. Done. The icemaker is a separate unit. This item is a perfect fit and was overall a perfect replacement for our old one. Due to some hard use from the previous owner, the original bucket unit was damaged. The white plastic inside was broken, probably from something that got caught in the dispenser/crusher. Metal dispenser/crusher plus plastic housing = easily damaged. That's a bad design, and there's no choice but to replace with what's available, meaning a new part using the same bad design. The clear plastic paddle had also recently broken on our previous unit. So, we desperately needed this replacement bucket.
