**Q: what material is the base? . steel or aluminum**
A: STEEL' and it is constructed well.  did my a/c lines and hydrolic lines on tractor. Paid for itself on first time use. Works best in vise but car be used on vehicle.

**Q: where do you buy the fittings (what kind also) and where do you buy the hose (what kind also)???**
A: I bought the fittings and hoses through Summit racing.   ( Vintage Air 31700-VBD - Vintage Air Standard Refrigeration Line Kits)  .  It came with all the fittings I needed + some extra. The crimping tool worked flawlessly and paid for itself.  I did buy some bulkhead fittings for the a/c and for heater hoses through Ebay. The kit also comes with a receiver drier. hope this helps.

**Q: Can this be used to garden hoses?**
A: No, this tool compresses against an inter insert. Normal hose has no internal insert to press against.

**Q: i want reduced barrier sizes are available?**
A: The reduced dies are available separately. The 71500 hydraulic version comes with the reduced dies.
