The citronella is strong smelling for the size of the candle which helped keep the bugs away. We used these for an outside party that we had, and they are not fast burning candles like some that you buy. After the party I put these candles around my patio and my front porch, so when we sit outside at night I will light these candles to keep the bugs away and they work fantastic. I really love these candles, and I will be buying more of them for our next up coming parties. I would recommend these candles to anyone that is having an outside party, or having friends over for a BarB-Que, or just likes to sit outside at night.
