The instructions are fair but we figured it out pretty easily. The bags that came with it as a kit seemed to work OK (~90% vacuum and seal rate), as did the roll of bags. However the additional bags (purchased from Amazon at the same time as machine) would only vacuum and seal ~25% of the time. The machine would not bring the bag to vacuum. I'm trying another brand of bags but they all seem to be generic in design.
