Made from hardwood with a stain finish. Desk has 3 drawers on top and two on inside. Has two letter slots. Front pulls down when not in use. Has straight tapered legs.

Even though I bought it new I never expect perfection from fallible human beings. It's not worth losing any sleep over. Anyway, it's covered, so it looks perfect, in front of the window with thermal maroon curtains (also from desertcart), to the right of my front door, and to the left of my hand carved Ming Windsor console table (also from desertcart). This rolltop won't be used for business purposes, as one might expect of a desk, but as my game station. I've got a little TV plug-in classic arcade game console (also from desertcart), that I keep under the roll. So, even if the top wasn't scratched I'd have my TV there anyway. And that desk is also the perfect size for a small efficiency like this one.

A: No. The top does not lock.

**Q: Are the 2 little drawers on the inside already assembled & connected there? Or can i not attach them when assembling, so i have more space ?**
A: Already assembled, but can be pulled easily pulled out .

**Q: What is the color in real life living spaces?  It looks more red than not.**
A: I'm not sure if there is a color selection. The one I received was more of a brown with a slight hint of cherry.

Very cute! My child loves this and it is built well, the roll is smooth, and has enough drawers and compartments. The writing surface pulls out to give you more area to write. Minus a star for how expensive it is, but overall we're happy.
