And does it slowly allow the tail gate to drop without holding it yourself or must you guide it?** A: Yes it will fit. Make sure you install the small end off the piston to the btm. No once you pop the tailgate latch it lowers smoothly by itself. Keep in mind that it does nothing to assist the raising of the tailgate. It does not matter if you installed it on the right it left side. Still works good. It still works like the day I put it on. Price was great, definitely doesn't let the tailgate slam, but it also doesn't make it harder to close either. I would recommend or buy again for another truck. Installation was easy and took 10-15 mins. When the tailgate is closed you can't even tell it's there or when open it blends in without being in the way. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tailgate hydraulic *by on Reviewed in the United States September 26, 2026* Works great, tailgate doesn't slam down anymore. Pretty easy to install, the hardest part was getting the insert installed on the bottom of the tailgate. Probably due to not having experience in doing it before. All around, great item. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great kit but little hang ups *by on Reviewed in the United States May 20, 2026* Easy to install and works great but the instructions could use some little side notes. On my 2021 f-150 I had to remove a bracket to get the tailgate to close cause the bracket was hitting the shock. The tools that came with the kit is not bad but the T-50 wrench fits very sloppy so I just used my own that fit better.
