On the other hand once you turn on the unit it will start testing. **Q: Is this unit using capacitance or tdr to measure lenght? i know the pro using tdr.** A: According to the Ideal website in the models section the Pro has all of the previous model features and in addition to that it has TDR and some other features - Features All the features of the VDV II, VDV II Plus and... Distance to Open / Short (TDR) PoE Detection with Voltage Information Media Service Detection Ethernet Detection with Network Rate and Duplex Information. It also says on the features page that the pro has tdr - "Accuracy The flagship VDV II Pro utilises TDR to accurately measure cable length and provide distance to fault information. " I would assume this means that the plus does not have tdr, but that is a guess. The manual for the Plus model mentions the following in the length measurement section, "... Accurate length measurement relies on correct setting of the capacitance per unit length (C) of the cable to be tested." **Q: Does this kit come with the case and the 6 rj45 cable tracer objectors?** A: Yes it came with case , and inside the case there are a handful of cables for testing. But I recommend to get the pro useful things like voltage measurement and other stuff **Q: Does this tester provide printable reports?** A: It does not provide printable output of any kind. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ Überflüssig *by A***E on Reviewed in Germany on 29 July 2022* Diese Zwischenstufe zwischen dem VDV II und dem VDV II pro ist im Anbetracht ihres Mehrleistungsumfangs meiner nach überflüssig geworden.Ich habe den VDV II plus zurückgeschickt und die pro-Alternative erworben, denn, wenn es nur darum geht, eine Leitung vor Inbetriebnahme zu prüfen, dann reicht auch der VDV II aus.Um adäquat bei einer Inbetriebnahme reagieren zu können, dann ist der VDV II plus nicht der richtige Tester, sondern die pro-Ausführung, um einen eventueller Fehler eingrenzen zu können.Im für meine Entscheidung ausschlaggebenden Fall habe ich einen LAN-Kabel (15 m) zwischen einer vorhandenen EDV-Dose und einem Verbraucher angeschlossen, wobei keine Verbindung zwischen beiden bestand.Die Ursache war eine schlechte EDV-Buchse in der Dose.Erst nach mehrmaligem Stecken des Kabels kam die Verbindung zu Stande und dann konnte ich eindeutig nachweisen, dass der Fehler nicht an meiner Installation lag, wobei ich solange warten musste, bis die Verbindung vom Dritten bestätigt wurde.Denn mit dem VDV II plus konnte ich nur feststellen, dass eine Spannung >2 Volt anstand und nicht, ob die Verbindung ordnungsgemäß bestand. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Data test unit *by M***H on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 December 2021* Decent cable tester but a bit overpriced here. Euro, aber brauch ich die?Nein, ich brauch ein Gerät, das mir zeigt welche Adern vertauscht sind und/ oder irgendwo ein Kurzschluss ist.Wenn mir dann auch noch die Kabellänge angezeigt wird, ist das Top.Der VDV II PLUS meldet zusätzlich, wenn das Kabel irgendwo unterbrochen ist und damit ist meine Wunschliste zu 99% abgearbeitet. Das letzte ist nur noch die Möglichkeit, mehrere Dosen/Jacks gleichzeitig zu testen, ohne permanent hin und her rennen zu müssen. Genau das kann der VDV auch. Es gibt ein RJ45 Kit und ein Remote Kit (ersteres misst nur Durchgang, das zweite auch Länge etc.) Damit erfüllt der VDV II PLUS alles was ich brauche.Das Gerät ist leicht und mit dem großen Display sehr gut lesbar. Die Bedienung ist schnell klar und eine gute Anleitung in Deutsch ist dabei. Zusätzlich gibt es eine Top Webseite (mit Videoanleitungen) und einen Adresse in München, mit sehr freundlichen Mitarbeitern, die auch die letzte Frage vor dem Kauf noch geklärt haben (Unterschied der Kit's s.o.).Das Gerät kommt mit einer Tasche, Kabeln, Adaptern und Batterie.
