They are sharp, they are smooth to use. I have used them to make around 80 wood wick candles for a project and they have also been used almost daily on multiple candles in the house since I purchased them. They have also been used to cut tape on cardboard boxes, plastic zip ties, small wires toothpicks and a variety of other non/intended uses.
