## Description

The Remington RM1025P Ranger 2-in-1 Pole Saw/Chain Saw is lightweight and easy to use. This electric tree trimmer's powerful 8 amp motor and 10-inch bar and chain are perfect for trimming small to medium-size branches. The Remington RM1025P is equipped with a quick option to detach the 10-foot telescoping pole to convert from a pole saw to a chainsaw after you've brought down those high branches. The easy flip and lock capability clamps down quickly to secure the pole length. The Remington RM1025P has a non-slip grip for comfortable use and is ideal for trimming and pruning hard-to-reach branches. The Remington RM1025P is backed by a 2-year limited warranty.

Review: amazingly effective, safe and easy to use - I've used this saw for several hours which is sufficient to give me an opinion as to its effectiveness and value. It's easy to set up, just use the wingnut clamp to secure it to the pole and off you go, no tools required. It stays put as does the extention of the pole. One easy to use clip on the pole allows you to move the extention in or out and lock it. It stays locked. Use it off the pole to trim off limbs from felled trees or easy to reach stuff. I've found many uses for the saw without the pole that makes to yard work go easy. It's safer than a gas chain saw and lighter. It is durable, it hasn't failed me. I maintain my machines and keep them ready to work, but I don't baby this saw or any piece of machinery. This saw does what it's supposed to without complaint. I pinched the chain in a limb (operator error!) and had to free it with another saw, but the Remington went right back to working without throwing a chain, bending, or breaking. Anyway you ...slice... it, using a chain saw to cut trees is tough on machinery. This saw has chewed through pine, oak, and cherry quickly and easily. When it's at full extention it's a little unwieldy because, afterall, you have a weight on one end of a pole and it will tend to be top heavy. But it is light enough to manuver and keep where you want it to cut and I haven't found its balance to be a problem. It does leak chain oil. In the yard, who cares? In the garage, it can be messy. But also tells you in the manual that it will leak the chain oil and recommends that you empty the oil resevoir when you store the saw. It holds about 3 ounces of motor oil and draining the oil is a ten second operation. Not a problem. When in use, one push of the oiler cap before eash cut and it's happy. It has an aggressive chain tooth layout which helps to slice through even big limbs. It's a ten inch saw, if you need to cut 14+ inch limbs/trees, you'll need a heavier chainsaw that's designed for that purpose. If you use this saw for its designed use, you won't have any difficulty pruning or taking off fairly meaty limbs from a safe position. I recommend it.
Review: Great tool! - I received my Remington Pole Saw two days ago based on the larger number of five star reviews. I understand the frustration by those who gave the item a poor rating based on their reviews. I, on the other hand, used mine for the first time this morning. First chain saw I have ever owned so I took my time reading through the owners manual two or three times. To read this manual is imperative. I would definitely say read and follow ALL safety instructions. Without reading these instructions, a person can be severely injured. With respect to using this machine -- I would agree that with the pole extended -- it is a little difficult to handle due to the weight of the chainsaw on the other end. It was heavy for me to handle so I initially rested the chain saw on the limb I wanted to cut until I was able to brace myself with my feet at which time I pulled the saw back off the limb, got the saw up to full speed (as recommended in the user manual) before contacting the limb to make the cut. This worked well for me. The saw worked flawlessly for me so far. My job was not a large one so I can't say how it would work if it was to be used for hours. My job was to cut oak tree limbs back off my house. I was done in about 30 minutes. I used 40 weight Castrol oil as recommended for temperatures above 75 degrees. Made sure to oil the chain frequently in order to not get the chain too hot. Would like to hear from anyone as to how often and how much the chain should be oiled. The owner's manual states to oil before every cut on the larger limbs(two inches and above). I estimate that it would have costs me at least $100 to have this done by a professional so I figure I already got my money back. Everything going forward will be freebies. I didn't have any oil issues as stated in some reviews. I did pour the oil that was over back into my oil container for next time as stated in the owners manual. I don't recommend this machine for really heavy jobs, but for small jobs of keeping limbs off your house -- I would highly recommend this machine. I figure if I have to throw this one away after another one or two uses -- I will have gotten my money's worth, but I think this machine will work well for me for quite some time to come since I will probably only use it once or twice a year for light limb trimming. As a final thought I would say to try to do a reasonably good job of cleaning your chain saw up, particularly if you're going to set it up for a while before using it again. This will be important in keeping it in good running condition. Lastly, be very careful to keep your extension cord clear of your cutting area. It would be very easy to cut through a limb possibly with the extension cord very near your cutting area. Any helpful comments to this review will be welcomed.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can anyone tell me what the difference is between this model and the RM1015SPS Branch Wizard Pro?**
A: I found this statement on a review about the two models. "The Remington RM1015SPS is a reasonably priced but powerful electric pole saw. When compared vs. the RM1015P, there are a few differences. The RM1015SPS updates to an improved trigger and hand guard, and the pole length can be adjusted from either end. The RM1015P's oiler had a tendency to leak, which appears to have been fixed on this model".

**Q: Any maintenance tips?**
A: On the pole itself, the two upper and lower sleeves that the silver poles slide through detached from the center orange pole when I yanked the pole after the saw got bound in a branch. After that job I bought some epoxy and glued these two sleeves onto the orange pole. Be careful of saw binding when the saw is elevated and cutting a larger bough.

**Q: Reading a lot about Oil leaking, and the handle seems to be different, why? Is this saw worth it?**
A: Yes, it leaks oil all over, and leaks even while sitting. In fact, it will completely empty the oil reservoir if stored for a time, and the bottom of the chain saw will be covered in oil. When storing it, be sure you place it on/in something that will catch the oil. It's such a hassle that I will look for something that doesn't leak in the future.

**Q: Does the saw angle?**
A: It attaches to the stick with no angle adjustment, just one straight 12 inch bar on the chain saw, with an on/off trigger and safety button at the base of the handle, when not attached to the stick, it has the same safety button/trigger and a plastic built in guard.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid Product
*by P***Z on October 21, 2014*

I bought this through Amazon LLC. seller, and while the initial shipment was defective - the drive socket locked up and the chain wouldn't turn after 1 hour of use - Amazon was so awesome and they sent out a replacement the very next day. In a few days I received the replacement chainsaw and I was very impressed with the performance of the chainsaw. I'm cutting small to medium sized trees. The largest diameter that I am having to cut is about 8 to 9 inches. This chainsaw cuts through everything cleanly and it never sticks - the motor feels very strong and the chain is sharp. The pole feels well constructed and durable. The chainsaw attaches to it very securely and using it at the pole's full extension works without a hitch. It must be noted, using the chainsaw at full extension does require a strong upper body because it gets quite heavy; and it also needs a bit of leverage from below, else the chainsaw might bounce around during the initial cuts. I would rate it a 5 star product, if not for the unfortunate defective one I received at first. But also I think Remington should incorporate a chain cover with the product (for when chainsaw is not in use). Other than that, it's a fabulous pole saw, performs well, and is offered at a great price. Great value / solid product.
