Review: Highly recommended wax paper! - I few years ago, as I was restocking my kitchen shelves, I noticed I was low on wax paper, and set out to buy more at local grocery stores. I don't go through a lot of it every year, but I do use it to wrap sandwiches and the like, on occasions. I was shocked NOT to be able to find ANY, at the 6 or more stores I visited. Apparently, it is not a particularly high-demand product, which one store manager told me was an "old fashioned" product, largely replaced by zip-lock plastic bags, so not a big seller, nor worth stocking! So began my search online for wax paper. I found some here, though at the time there were fewer than 3 rolls available! I quickly purchased one roll for now, and am glad I did. This product is superior even to the brands I used to buy decades ago when wax paper was used more often, to line cookie sheets or wrap sandwiches for lunches. It is sturdy, does not disintegrate as quickly when wet, and is substantial in thickness. Everything I was looking for in a wax paper. One box of this wax paper will last you a long time, for certain. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

**Q: maximum temperature?**
A: This is WAXED PAPER, not baking parchment. Do not use it in a regular oven. Use it to wrap sandwiches in a lunch box, or to portion meat and wrap it for freezing, or similar applications.

**Q: Is the wax petroleum based or soy based?**
A: Paraffin, which by definition is basically petroleum based.

**Q: Does this work for lining a baking pan?**
A: Wax paper was used a lot when I was growing up, but I was born in 1954. Younger people are likely not as familiar with it because it’s not used as much these days. It’s not like parchment paper, which is likely what you are looking for. Wax paper has a thin coating of wax on it, and therefore cannot be exposed to oven heat.

**Q: is this compostable?**
A: To tell you the truth I'm not sure. I never looked at the box to see what kind of paraffin was being used. But if its any kind of petroleum based paraffin the answer is no. Its not something youd want in your garden after compost.

i just bought this but i know it will work well and I’m using it to make DIY hair clips plus this thing is super cheap and comes with a lot of wax paper also its perfect for cooking too because if it works with very sticky hot glue— then it would obviously work with cooking!
