This tool makes your paper into a sticker. It's fantastic!! I use it to make cards so I've only used card stock in it. It can take a piece as wide as 2" so I cut out a flower (for example) run it thru and stick it onto my card. It's a great time saver and you don't have to use your tape runner on projects that you think you may tear. **Q: Would this work on notebook paper or textbooks if you wanted to make little arrow flags like post-it makes? Or would it rip/ruin the paper?** A: Sure it would work, but let me explain one thing about these little plastic machines: They thread a tape of stickyback that is about 2 inches wide or so. So if you are feeding something into it that is really tiny, it is going to be a headache. Although the truth is that I have stuck ALL KINDS OF THINGS THROUGH THESE including plastic jiggly eyes and furry fabric. The bigger the thing is you wanna make sticky (within these size limitations) the easier it is. But it absolutely will *not* rip the paper unless you are using something like tissue paper. In fact the business-card items I have shoved through worked best.
