I simply took a little aluminum sheeting and some tin snips, and made a half round shim that I inserted into the hold prior to inserting the bolt. It took a little extra time, but my cargo carrier will have a more solid feel and will not sag. My two reasons for getting this product was the angled bar that lifts the carrier, and the fact that it is aluminum. I am not likely to carry more than 80 lbs with it anyway, so 300 lbs is more than sufficient. My hitch receiver is below the bumper, so having a raised carrier is a must. One minor gripe is that the product info on desertcart states that this can be used by SUVs, but the product itself has a label that states that it is only for off road ATV use. My guess is that it is for liability purposes, and because the product does not have lights or reflectors. Rest assured, if it can handle off road use, it will be fine for most other purposes.
