A: Your question asks about a "shipment". The front page indicates they're selling buy the 8 oz. jar.If you order one "jar" you get one jar in the shipment.If you order 4 "jars"   you get 4 jars in the shipment.I don't know what else to tell you.

**Q: Is this product a paste or granules, or something else?**
A: Paste and it is pretty salty, so with cooking use less salt in your recipe.  But it is the best I have ever tasted.

**Q: How long can this product safely be stored after opening ?**
A: Refrigerated, indefinitely. At room temp and cyclicly accessed and closed, I'd guess after six months if you haven't used it up, its probably lost alot of its charm other than saltiness. There's no fat or oil in there so spoilage is impeded by the salt. Mine gets used up before the thrill is gone.

This is absolutely adequate to use in place of small to medium amounts of beef broth or stock, say, in a soup or other recipe--for a braise, it's fine. Decent flavor, no powdery bouillon taste. Recommend.
