As the are water mixable the clean very easily and don't tend to stain my clothes(wash it out before it dries). the longest ive had to wait for it to dry has been 3 days which allows enough time to develope the gones in my paintings. These paints are perfect for students as they are a good level up from acrylics. And, like acrylics, they create successfull washes. Thanks** A: It's still an oil paint, and the use of water while painting means that the water component dries within a few days; but, the oil base itself means that the thorough complete drying time is six months to a year, before you can varnish it. **Q: If only water is needed, what is artisan h2o med linseed oil multicolor for?** A: I do use water mixable linseed oil in preparing my canvas and also for blending. I don't use water in any way during painting. The advantage in using water mixable oil paint is the clean up and no chemical smell. **Q: does it mean that the medium for these is water?** A: It means you can use water to thin your paint and wash your brushes. Still use a bit of soap on your brushes when washing. In the past, the two main problems with oil paints were the smell and the drying time. The Winton Oil Colours not only dry miles quicker than standard oil paints and have no strong smell, but also they can be mixed with water.
