Of course you do need a battery; there is no space in this small engine casing to put a battery. A 40-50Ah would do the job. **Q: Does it work with Inflatable kayaks?** A: For sure as inflatable is lighter **Q: Trolling motor is it OK to use in saltwater?** A: Yes. It is fine to use it ## Frequently Bought Together - Newport Kayak Series 36lb Thrust Transom Mounted Saltwater Electric Trolling Motor w/LED Battery Indicator (24" Shaft) - Newport 12V50Ah Deep Cycle Heavy-Duty Marine Battery, Lightweight & Sealed AGM, Trolling Motor Compatible - Newport Trolling Motor Smart Battery Box Power Center with USB and DC Ports --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.hr/products/304014204-vessels-kayak-series-36lb-thrust-transom-mounted-saltwater-electric-trolling](https://www.desertcart.hr/products/304014204-vessels-kayak-series-36lb-thrust-transom-mounted-saltwater-electric-trolling) --- *Product available on Desertcart Croatia* *Store origin: HR* *Last updated: 2026-11-08*
