There are 5 flues. After buying the home about 13 years ago, there were slight leaks around the fireplace ceiling after a good rain. It gradually got worse over time that developed into water running down into the living room across the ceiling. I mean alot of water. When entering the front door, there is about 6 feet of chimney outside the entrance (under roof). I started wondering why this stone would be soaked with water after rain. Did my research and learned that stone can act like a sponge. I used this product about 6 years ago and have not had a drop of water since. Stone at entrance is dry as a bone even after heavy rains. Still working great but reapplying.
