We were able to put the volume on the stereo to zero and the sound from the headsets was still very clear and had to be turned down some. The sound is great on both the DVD system and the CD/Radio. We had a great family trip last week with our 5 and 7 year olds and when they decided to watch a DVD there was total silence in the car. The support email on the paper was not a valid address. I tried everything the instructions suggested to get these to work, including making sure the sound was playing in the vehicle using the original factory headphones.The headphones, at least, are compact, comfortable, seem like they would be durable, and sound pretty decent when using the included cords.
