As a seamstress, I recommended my family not use the shoulder strap before I reinforced the anchors that it clips into (as that was definitely a weak point). We find that the little metal vents at the bottom of the garage pop out, but that makes no difference to the function or stability of the bag. So, yes - I would definitely recommend these bags. For the price, I doubt you could do better! **Q: Is it good for traveling?** A: Yes **Q: How to wear like a bookbag?** A: First let me say I love my bag. I do not see where is could be used for a book bag.
