The 1/2" fitting that came with the new burner kit, was too small for the black pipe coming out of the wall. I measured the outside diameter at 5/8" and went to the local plumbing supply place. An older gentleman informed me that he had no idea how to help me because there is no pipe size between 1/2" and 5/8". And he said it in a way that made me feel bad for even asking. So I went home, looked on-line and found this. It came today and it fits just right. I did not have problems with it being soft as another reviewer indicated. It's quite sturdy and the fit was just about perfect.
