I find a tugging movement with some larger pieces to be more effective than just pulling the stems, but bottom line is that I was able to prep a considerable ammount of fajita marinade quite fast. Review: Great for cilantro - I make gazpacho pasta a lot during the summer and use cilantro. I despise chopping it. This thing made it SO MUCH EASIER. It's great quality and truly takes the muss and fuss out of making cold summer soups and salads. So far, I have only used it on cilantro but I would guess it will work on other hers as well. I had imagined being able to feed my thyme or cilantro into one of the holes & just pulling it through with the herb leaves falling nicely onto my cutting board ready to be chopped. Unfortunately, even while pulling gently, the herb stalks just break & I'm stuck with a few leaves jammed into the hole. Frankly, it's easier & quicker to just pinch the leaves off the stems with my fingers.
