It's a little hard to train yourself to push the latch down before opening each drawer, but we've got it down now. If you have a house where you're constantly opening and closing the cupboards, and in your kitchen a lot, you might look into the magnetic ones that you can "Lock & unlock" when you have a lot of kitchen use. We just put these on a couple "key" cupboards that have some cleaning supply's and potential dangerous junk drawer type of things in them. But they hold up! I've full on pulled on them by accident dozens of times, (forgetting they were there) and they don't budge.
