The thickness of the slabs begins at about 2 inches and the finished product ends up approximately 1 3/4 inch thick, making this a natural and elegant piece of furniture that you will enjoy having as a part of your daily life. The hickory shelf adds both function and refinement. It is easily inserted or removed. The 3/4 inch copper pipe that forms the legs is sweat with a torch like plumbers of days gone by, and the 1/2 inch diagonal copper struts and copper fittings are secured with cotter pins through the copper pipe and fittings to provide easy assembly and solid fixation. You won't find anything like this table at anywhere near this price because the big furniture companies just can't produce such a unique coffee table. It requires special handling of the lumber from the time the tree is cut to its processing at the sawmill and then the kiln drying, all done before the Ozark craftsmen start to create what you will find to be a functional work of art. The big companies are not going to take the time to have craftsmen make tables the way these are made. First, the shipping/packing arrived without dents or scratches on the wood or frame. It took five minutes to assemble, which was amazing and simple. The table itself is beautiful. It truly looks handcrafted, and makes such a statement. If you are looking for a mid century or industrial look, this is a great piece to start/finish with. Let me start by saying that all in all the table is nice if you are looking for something very standard. However, As you can see in my photos, it is not 'live edge's at all. They scratched this weird scribble into the edges trying to make it look natural I guess lol. It really looks like a kid took a knife to it and just scrated the heck out of it. I'm really so disappointed with it. There is no swoop or curve to the table it is absolutely straight. There are no natural indents in the top portion it's very flat and uniform. I put this guy together and tried to move it in front of my couch and it fell apart because the top pins would just slide right out. Man with such fantastic reviews I really thought this guy was a no brainer but boy was I wrong. I gave it two stars because the copper piping is very nice and the bottom board looks better than the top. My biggest problem with this guy is the scribbles in the side like what the heck were they thinking. Maybe they all dont have that because I didnt see this in any other photo. Maybe mine is just a fluke because the others looked quite nice. Definitely sending back. Very upset.
