It is not only the best biography-type book I've ever read, it was interesting and very entertaining (hard to put down). I learned about Chuck Nicklin's extordinary life and how he got into underwater photography as well as how dangerous and exciting suba diving and filming could be. If you are interested in underwater photography or filming or just diving for the fun of it, you will enjoy this book. There are a handful of people who pursued and promoted scuba diving in its early days and Chuck is one these pioneers. He includes insight on how the first wetsuits were made (he made his first one), the big heavy cameras that were used, the special camera casings made for them and lots more. He was hooked at an early age and that began his love affair with the ocean. It has taken him all over the world, meeting friends and acquaintences in all walks of life. His photographs and films are widely renown. He worked with Scripps Institute of Oceanography, National Geographic and producers and actors in movies such as "Love is Forever," "For Your Eyes Only" and "The Abyss." I particularly like the way he 'tells it like it is.' If he was happy, excited, scared, sad, leary, he tells you how he felt at the time. He tells his story in a wonderful, entertaining way. I also enjoyed the chapters written by his diving friends, telling different stories about working with Chuck, some funny, some dangerous, all fascinating. And there are pictures, a terrific selection of photographs in the middle of the book. Chuck Nicklin has lived long and well and he's still going strong. In 2014 he was inducted into the International Suba Diving Hall of Fame. I wonder what's next on his agenda. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The man who saved my life, my Boss, and my Friend *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2015* I had the privilege of working for Chuck and Al Giddings as their Camera Assistant on Ocean Quest. I learned many things from Chuck, not to mention he saved my life in Truk Lagoon, but I never knew about the stories in this book because Chuck doesn't talk about himself. I'm usually a fast reader, but not with this book. I'm savoring every word. I don't want the stories to end. I'm so glad he put down in writing the adventures of his career, so that all can share in the life of this remarkable man. Thank You Chuck. There are so many fascinating stories in the book that Chuck tells about his life as a diver and underwater cinematographer. Chuck and his lovely wife Rosalind have had such an amazing life full of travel and adventure, and have inspired countless underwater photographers and filmmakers (myself included!).
