## Description

Keep contaminants out of your rainwater supply with the Rain Harvesting First Flush Downspout. Equipped with a slow-release valve, this system automatically drains the chamber over time, keeping it ready for the next rainfall. The First Flush Basic comes with everything you need for installation, requiring only the addition of a 3" pipe for the chamber. Boasting an efficient design, this first flush will prevent both organic and inorganic contaminants getting into your water tank, and ensure a high standard of quality in the final collection tank.

Review: I wrote this in the Leaf Eater comments and it deserves to be here too. I love these and combined them with the Downpipe First Flush Water Diverter Kit system. (also on desertcart) And they work great. I'm in a 3rd world Caribbean country and have had NO city water for almost 2 years and in a major drought. We are having are second heavy rain since last FEB. and watching these simple systems collecting water off a rather dirty roof with the Leaf Eater taking out the larger debris while the flush system takes captures the finer dust and... bird stuff. Both need a little cleaning type maintenance after a hard rain, it is easy to do and I'm glad to do it. I have 3 of the 4 Leaf Eaters installed so they are easy to get to from upper porch, the other I need a ladder. The Flush system needs to be opened at the bottom, easy by hand, to clear the drain. But since we have only had 2 heavy rains, they have a lot of garbage to deal with. Since we need all the water we can get, small price to pay. 1" of rain = 2,000 gallons for us going into 2 water cisterns. I'll take all that I can. Not difficult to install. We are on the Atlantic Ocean with VERY salty air; the Leaf Eater stainless steel grid has held up very well with NO corrosion at all. We also have had to put in a well, very salty and nasty water but we have filters/UV and 3 RO systems by iSpring that deliver 1,500 a day. When you don't have ANY water, you do what you need to do. When you find good products that could help others dealing with drought and water problems, then you should talk about them. Thank you

**Q: How does this system work with standard 2x3 aluminum downspouts?  I currently have Oatey diverter installed but wanted to add a first flush system**

**Q: Can the ball get lodged in the tube by debris?**
A: If debris is large it is possible. The 3" first flush is a bit tighter than the 4". Do know this, smaller debris will clog the screen at the bottom before the ball will get lodged, this will make prevent/slow the initial bad water from draining properly. Also consider the amount of water you need to flush based on roof surface area flowing to the flush. Reduce debris that could clog the system with gutter guards not expensive and just put them on the gutters feeding the capture system. This will also help with the routine maintenance, you need to clean it out the sediment/small debris to keep it working at it's best. If you were wondering why you see fine screens offered with the system. Fine screen keeps small debris out of the drain screen allowing better draining and longer intervals between cleaning. Picking little twigs, pine needles and stems of leaves out of the drain screen supplied with the system is no fun. The fine mesh over this is a plus in so many ways. Hope this helps and good luck.
