Each piece is very lightweight, yet sturdy. My grand daughter dropped a bowl on my hardwood flooring and it didn't even chip. They held up to hand washing beautifully. They did not scratch at all when using a fork and spoon on them to eat. Each piece is sized very well according to what each one is used for such as soup, salad, etc... It's hard to tell from the picture, but they are oval shaped, which makes them even more beautiful. The pattern, in several different colors and shades, makes it easy to match serving dishes for elegant dinners. This is a very fancy, yet durable set of dishes and I highly recommend them for your next set! They are well worth the price, and will last for many years.
