I drive a 2017 mini clubman. Got these aftermarket and directly drilled to the frame. Most newer cars can carry 4 times the load of their weight before collapsing. These are very strong and my roof is also very strong. I’m sure these could probably carry up to 1000LBS if the weight is properly distributed and secured. Most companies like to give a lower ratings for safety purposes and liability reasons. Attached a roof basket and storage pod to them for a long road trip. Love the attention to detail on the cross bars with the rubber ton stip for attachments and the rubber bottom strip to help with sealing the units from rain and keeping them a bit more quiet when driving.
