When ever I paint a chalkboard surface I know you must rub a big chalk stick over the entire area first.** A: I didn’t and it holds perfect **Q: Can this be applied to a plywood board or does it need to be treated first?** A: I'd say yes. It's a sticky backing so it'd stick to anything. **Q: Can it be used outside?** A: I would guess yes if you have something flat to stick it to **Q: Description states to apply to glass or window, can this be applied to metal? Would it remove cleanly?** A: I haven't applied it to any surface as I am using it as a chalkboard. I just stapled it to the wall to the wall for that very reason. I imagine that it will be like taking contact paper off of anything. Even if it comes off in one piece, whatever it was attached to would be super sticky. The sides of my stainless steel fridge are now this very good looking black board. Much better than the gray finish the fridge came with. Adding cute messages for my family or menus, makes this board even more loved and useful. It erases really easy, with no marks so far. I'm curious how long it will look nice, if used a lot.
