We chose 4mm thickness for the felt because anything more seems like too much and anything less feels like low quality. We chose the clear thin rubber bumpers because they are inconspicuous and sleek and still offer plenty of protection. These felt pads are made of premium felt with a thin foam (EVA) spacer between the felt and the adhesive. These pads and bumpers have been inspected to ensure the highest quality performance for your every-day needs. INSTRUCTIONS: Be sure to clean any surfaces you wish to stick the pads. Clean the surface thoroughly for dirt, residue, oil and any soapy cleaning products. Make sure to use a damp cloth to clean the surface and thoroughly allow the surface to dry before applying the adhesive pad. If the surface is wood or metal it may need some light sanding to prepare it for the best adhesive capability. Be sure to gently wipe off any dust with a damp cloth and allow the surface to dry before applying the adhesive pad. TIP: many drawers and cabinet doors may need cleaned on the most-touched areas. Oil from the hands, due to repeated touching of an area, can prevent proper adhesion of the bumper pads. I have a recliner chair that was scratching my wood floor. The front legs are round and the back square. The nice thing about this product is that it includes both round and square protectors. Reviews on similar products complain that the protectors eventually fall off. I haven't had mine that long but so what if they do; these sort of things do happen. But, I have a whole package to replace them if that happens. There were plenty of pads for all my furniture with a lot left over. Some pads are conveniently precut, but there are also large squares that can be cut to fit. Other than lifting the heavy furniture, I needed no help in applying the pads. I used a sanding block to sand the parts of my chairs, cabinets, tables, bookcases that sit on the floor. After sanding, I wiped each surface with a damp cloth. As soon as it was dry, the furniture was ready for the pads. They stuck on easily, I turned the furniture over, and I was done. They are not thick enough to withstand the compressing force of the furniture or the people in the case of chairs. I wouldn't trust them sliding on my hardwood floors.
